Not all of us are fortunate enough to have a day job that satisfies our craving to program
One of the goals of the XP user group is to provide a community in which we get to write code. If somebody wants to get together for a coding session, just use the MailingList to coordinate it!
We got together on Saturday, September 15 and played a little more with HuntTheWumpus.

We met at Border's on Wednesday, September 19 and began a LibrarySystem in Java. Source code is available here: http://xputah.org/downloads/LibrarySystem.zip
The people who attended: MattNikols BrianButton ZhonJohansen KayJohansen GaryShea AlistairCockburn. We were able to network our laptops (thanks to Gary who brought the hub and ran the DHCP server and the CVS server). It was very satisfying to be able to work on the same code base.
There was momentary confusion about what to code, until Alistair showed up and rattled off four projects. We chose to implement a LibrarySystem.
This was a whole lot of fun, and we were amazed at how rotating pairs not only didn't slow us down, it disseminated knowledge very rapidly across the "team."
OK so CodingPicnics may not be the best name. I wanted to connote an informal social gathering, but of course there was no meal involved. Metaphorical...
Any suggestions for a better name? --KayJohansen
