I have been anxiously awaiting response after Wednesday's meeting, but have seen none, so I decided to add some of my own.
I was hesitant coming into the meeting because of my lack of Java programming background (Im a Visual Basic guy). Once, immersed in pair programming I was excited to see that although I could not contribute by typing code, I was able to assist in the design/logic/flow of the code. Seeing the dynamic of pair programming in action was great. This has inspired me to finally pick up my copy of Beginning Java 2 and dive in headfirst so I can participate more fully next time.
There was a lot of discussion about what project to build during the ongoing meetings. Although some want to build a development tool of some kind and others want to build something more business or customer centric, I believe that it does not matter as long as all of us are able to see XP at work and learn. I worry about whatever project we decide to build growing a life of its own (ending up open-source-like) and the group loosing focus on learning and doing XP.
Whatever happens, I look forward to being a part of it and interacting with others.
